Not so traditional kitchens

I like new and modern but I like traditional too... I always gravitate towards designs that
have a good balance between both. In terms of kitchens I feel the same way.

The stainless steel worktop and appliances freshen up the traditional cabinetry.

I like the combination of contemporary glossy lacquer cabinetry
with traditional subway tiles and brass hardware

The pair of vintage pendants make a white simple kitchen interesting
Carrara marble always look good with contemporary and traditional cabinetry.

The glossy blue finish of the cabinetry makes the kitchen look chic and modern.

Toddler Chic

I am back after many months of being too busy working.
I finally have more time to follow my favorite blogs and find new inspiring brands like AFFINITA' MODERNE. They produce the cutest baby and toddler hand knitted blankets and bed linens.
I love the nice and original color palette. Very inspiring!

Art Wall

I decided that I want to create a wall full of pictures mixed with some art in my hallway. These are some of my inspiration pictures.

Now the question is: should I mix gold or silver frames
with black ones or stick with only black?
I like this variety of frames, sizes and colours...
Me gusta esta variedad de marcos, tamaños y colores...

...but black and white is always pretty.

If I go for black I would use different frame syles...

Jeffrey Alan Marks

I just discovered the LA based designer Jeffrey Alan Marks through 1stDibs and I really like some of the pictures of his own house that were feature by Elle Decor US.

I am still trying to figure out where to use the Christopher Farr fabric
from the bench in my house
I'm keeping this picture for when I have a house with a walk-in closet!
I love the grey oak doors.

AD Home Desing Show

I had a great time at the AD Home Design Show on Saturday. I discovered a few new brands and I had the chance to chat with the designers. I love listening the story of their beginnings. It is always very inspiring.
These were some of my favorites booths:

Bryant is lovely and very interesting to talk to. She explained me how she got fascinated by the textiles and culture of Morocco during her honeymoon.  One night she dreamt of creating a line of blankets and since then she haven’t stopped pursuing her dream. She now has a beautiful line of alpaca throws made in Peru but also lots of pillows to combine.

This is the first year that Darly Preminger was exhibiting at the AD Home Show. Daryle is an interior designer.  He created this new line of cushions after searching for similar things on the market and not finding what she really wanted. All the cushions are designed in a neutral palette but with the interesting textures of the natural fibers.

I not only liked her booth but also wanted one of her lamps for my dining room... They look industrial yet handcrafted and delicate. The wall lights are great too. Check out her website and the nice video and blog about their manufacturing process.

I specially liked this picture from their website. The lamp works perfectly in a traditional kitchen with those antique Louise XVI that I also want for my dining room please!

Orley Shabahang handmade Persian carpets.

This brand was new to me but they have been producing rugs since the XVI Century. Geoffrey Orley’s daughter explained me how they create their own designs inspired in Persian architectural motifs and nature.

Hotel La Malcontenta

Lázaro Rosa-Violán is one of my favorite interior designers. I first learned about him a few years ago when I went for a drink to the Pulitzer Hotel bar in Barcelona. It was love at first sight and since then I have been a fan of his work. Last summer I had the pleasure of staying at La Malcontenta Hotel at my cousin’s “V” wedding. I wanted to share with you some of the thousand (not kidding) pictures that I took while I was there.

I love these rugs. They look worn and very spanish

This is the sitting room area in my bedroom...

more of the sitting room...

and this was my bedroom...

Ah! and finally the bathroom...
I was lucky and I think I had one of the best rooms :)

Ikea has similar frames. You can create an affordable version by buying
a colorful frame mat and b/w old prints from a flea market.

Cute small artwork at low level to enjoy it while seating in the sofa.

The tables of the restaurant are set for the big night

Love this hand painted chinoiserie panels with the Louis VXI style chairs

I miss the breeze and the summer in Spain...
